DIY Tool Guide is a small, independent site publishing the kind of tool reviews and DIY guides we wished existed when we were starting out — practical, unhurried, and written by people who own and use the tools.
DIY Tool Guide started as a personal notebook. Every time we finished a renovation project or bought a new tool, we wrote up what we learned — what we'd do differently, which tools earned their keep, which promised more than they delivered. Enough friends and neighbors asked for the same advice that publishing it started to make sense.
We're not a large media company. We're a small team of practical DIY enthusiasts who genuinely enjoy this stuff and want to save the next person the trial and error we went through.
The site is new — we launched in early 2026 — and we're building it carefully. Every article on this site was researched, tested, and edited by a real person whose name and background is on the byline.
No manufacturer samples we can't return. If we recommend something, we've paid for it and used it on real projects.
Every review is based on weeks of actual use — deck screws, drywall, kitchen installs — not press releases or unboxings.

Every review on DIY Tool Guide follows the same process. We use the tool ourselves on real projects for at least a few weeks before publishing. We compare it against direct competitors we've also tested. We publish specific pros and cons — no recommendation is unqualified — and we say who a tool is not for as explicitly as who it is for.
When a product is genuinely bad, we say so. When our opinion of a tool changes after long-term use, we update the article and note the update date. When something we recommended has been replaced by a better option, we say that too.
Jane has been renovating houses for 12 years and writes tool reviews you can actually act on. She currently owns and uses every drill in our roundups and does not accept manufacturer samples she cannot return.
