DIY Tool Guide ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at diytoolguide.com ("the site"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
We collect a limited amount of information in the following ways:
- Analytics data collected via Google Analytics 4, including your approximate location (country/region), device type, browser, pages visited, and how you arrived at the site (referrer / search query where available).
- Cookies set by Google Analytics 4 and, in the future, any embedded services (such as newsletter or ad networks). We do not currently set our own first-party tracking cookies.
- Contact form submissions — if you fill out our contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide.
- Newsletter signups (planned) — when we launch our newsletter, we will collect the email address you provide. The current newsletter form on the site is a UI placeholder and does not submit anywhere.
How we use this information
- Understand how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it.
- Respond to messages you send us through the contact form.
- Send newsletter emails (only once you subscribe, and only until you unsubscribe).
- Detect and prevent abuse of the site.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your contact-form submissions with third parties. We do not build advertising profiles about you.
Third-party services
The site currently uses these third-party services that may process information about your visit:
- Google Analytics 4 — for anonymized site analytics. We have enabled Google Consent Mode v2 with all advertising and analytics storage set to denied by default; this will change when we add a consent banner and you grant consent.
- Amazon Associates and other affiliate programs (planned) — when you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer may set its own cookies per their privacy policies. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
- Ad networks (planned) — the site does not currently serve ads. When it does, this policy will be updated to name the specific ad network(s) used and what data they process.
Your rights and choices
- You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- You can block cookies through your browser settings.
- If we hold personal information about you (for example, from a contact form or newsletter signup), you can ask us to see, correct, or delete it.
- Residents of the EU/EEA, UK, California, and other jurisdictions with data-protection laws may have additional rights (access, portability, erasure, opt-out of sale, etc.). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below.
Data retention
Analytics data is retained for the default Google Analytics 4 retention period. Contact form messages are retained for as long as needed to respond and follow up, typically no more than 24 months. Newsletter subscribers' email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change, and update the "last updated" date at the top.
