Short version: DIY Tool Guide earns a commission when you buy products through some of our links. Those commissions help pay for the site. They do not influence which products we recommend, what score we give them, or what we say about them.
Some links on this site — particularly links to products we review or recommend — are affiliate links. When you click one of those links and buy the product (or sometimes any product from the same retailer within a short window), we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
DIY Tool Guide participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. We also participate in affiliate programs with other retailers, including Home Depot, Lowe's, and specialty tool sellers.
We buy the tools we test. We do not accept manufacturer-supplied review units that we're expected to return. We do not accept payment or free products in exchange for favorable coverage. Our editorial process picks the "best" tool in each category based on hands-on testing — then we look for affiliate programs that carry it. Never the other way around.
If our top pick in a category isn't part of any affiliate program we belong to, it's still our top pick. We'll link to it directly. Our credibility is worth far more to us than any single sale.
Buy links on our review and comparison articles (typically buttons labeled "Buy at [retailer]" or product-name links inline in the text) are affiliate links. They carry the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attribute per FTC disclosure guidance and search-engine best practices.
Articles that recommend specific products also carry a visible disclosure banner near the top of the article, so you always know when affiliate links are in play.
Nothing about the price. You pay the same whether you click through our affiliate links or navigate directly to the retailer. If our recommendations save you time and money, and you buy through our links, thank you — that's how this site keeps running.
